The Junior Weekend Getaway runs for three days and two nights. It happens twice a year in Term 1 and 3. The weekend is led by our fantastic leaders and volunteers, who are all over 18 years old. Each participant is paired with a volunteer who will be their buddy throughout the weekend.
We meet on Friday morning and travel on a private bus to places such as Inflatable World, which is usually on the way to our destination. After having lots of fun and burning some energy, we then go back on the bus to our Getaway Retreat and get ready for Shabbat.
In recent years we have gone to Berrima and stayed on a beautiful farm. During the weekend, we enjoy swimming in the pool, karate, circus skills, playing fun games and sports activities, and most of all hanging out with our new friends.
A designated first aid officer, who administers medication, provides first aid and assists with personal care, attends the Junior Getaway.
All food is provided by a catering company. Participants and volunteers are required to bring their own water bottle.
