Our Community

Friendship Circle fosters a strong sense of belonging in the community. We are all connected by the goal to create a more inclusive society where everyone feels they belong. Friendship Circle was founded over 15 years ago, and a large number of our volunteers, families and donors have been with us for many years, some even since day 1! 

Benefits

Having young people with and without disabilities join our programs makes Friendship Circle unique and vibrant. According to the NDIA, one of the biggest challenge for people with a disability is social isolation. Many children and young people are constantly surrounded by adult supports but don't have regular social contact with their peers. Friendship Circle offers a structured social space for like-minded individuals of similar ages to connect and form friendships through our social hangouts, camps and getaways. In addition to the social aspect of our programs, joining Friendship Circle provides families the opportunity for skill building, social capacity building, community belonging, parent networking, and disability education.

Costs

Friendship Circle is a not-for-profit organisation, and our community-discounted fees do not cover the program costs. Thanks to our donors, Friendship Circle is able to offer programs at a community-discounted rate to families who may not otherwise be able to have their child attend similar social activities. 

We need your help

We rely on donors and families who are able to pay above the community-discounted rate using their NIDS funding, to help us grow and develop our program offerings. Another fantastic way for families to support Friendship Circle is through fundraising, for example for our annual Friendship Walk, birthday and other special fundraising campaigns, corporate sponsorships, and more.
